So we spent the better part of an hour this afternoon trying soothe a fussy Henry. His favorite activity of the day was buzzing around the kitchen with wide eyed amazement. It serves as a pretty good workout for Momma and Dad too! He must think he has been put on Earth with the strangest people ever. Hey, whatever it takes!

Lovin' His Highchair
Every night at dinner we put Henry in his bouncy seat and then put it up on the table to entertain him. Last weekend Daddy put together the highchair to see if Henry would sit in it instead. Boy it is a hightech piece of equipment. It is designed to grow with him and can be used in 4 different stages. Right now we can prop him up in it and let him sit with us a the table. He loves it! It also serves as a cool racecar. Yesterday Daddy and Henry made laps around the kitchen while Dad made racecar noises--Henry rolled around with wide eyes.
Our First Month
We had a busy first month getting to know Henry. He isn't much of a nighttime sleeper--but is getting better. Many nights he ends up snuggled up in bed next to Momma because he sleeps much better there. He loves to eat and is quickly making up for being a small baby when he first arrived.
What did my fingers do before they held him?
What did my heart do, with its love?
I have never seen a thing so clear.
His lids are like the lilac-flower
and soft as a moth, his breath.
I shall not let go.
There is no guile or warp in him. May he keep so.

It's A Boy!!--20 weeks

We confirmed this afternoon at our 20 week ultrsound that it is a boy!! He weighs 13 ounces now--so he has grown from the size of a blueberry to 13 ounces in about 12 weeks. Progress! Everything looks normal in there which is always great news. I started feeling little flutters last week and that has been fun. Now the planning begins! We can't wait to welcome Henry William in mid-September.

almost out of the first trimester...
12 weeks 5 days
I had another doctor's appointment this afternoon. Everything looks great. She couldn't find the baby's heartbeat with the handheld doppler so they did an ultrasound. I was just fine with that because it gave me the opportunity to see what is going on in there again. It was just a quick peek to make sure everything is still looking good, so the pictures aren't the greatest. But, it does show how much Henry/Evie has grown in the last 3 weeks! I am amazed that there is so much movement going on in there--and I can't feel any of it. I can't wait to start feeling movement and kicks. I am just a couple days shy of 13 weeks and being out of the first trimester. I can't wait until I start finding all that energy people keep talking about! So far things haven't been too bad--and I hope it keeps going that way. I head back to the doctor April 8th.

10 weeks

This morning we returned for our first "official" obstetrical visit. They got caught up on paperwork and blood work. They also did our second ultrasound. It is amazing how much change there has been from just three weeks ago. Before it was a little smudgy spot on the screen. Now it has arm and leg buds and was quite active. It measured about 3 cm in length. Henry/Evie actually measured a few days ahead of 10 weeks, but we are sticking with a due date of Sept. 16th. Mexican food does a baby body good. :)
I am waiting for all of this to still seem real. After two ultrasounds and doctor visits you would think it would sink in. It is still so hard to believe there is an active bundle of arms and legs living in me. Really amazing....
We return March 5th for our next visit...
